Vertigo is a symptom, rather than a condition itself. It's the sensation that you, or the environment around you, is moving or spinning.

• One common cause of vertigo is Meniere's disease, a rare but serious condition associated with progressive episodes of vertigo, hearing loss, and tinnitus (ringing in the ears).

• Vertigo is more common in migraine sufferers, older people, women, and people with a family history of vertigo.

• Several comorbid conditions increase the risk of vertigo, including diabetes and abnormal glucose metabolism, osteoporosis, high Vertigo/ Giddiness, depression and anxiety.

• Debris in the inner ear can cause benign paroxysmal positional vertigo , the most common type of vertigo.

• Many medications can cause dizziness or vertigo, like some antibiotics, statins, and antidepressants.


SYMPTOMS OF VERTIGO

A change in the position of your head generally triggers Vertigo .

People with vertigo typically describe it like feelings mentioned below.

• Spinning sensation

• Tilting

• Being Swayed.

• Feeling Unbalanced

• As if being pulled to one direction


Other symptoms that may accompany vertigo include:

• Nausea

• Vomiting

• Abnormal or jerking eye movements

• Headache

• Sweating

• Ringing in the ears or hearing loss


Symptoms may last a few minutes to a few hours or more and may come and go.

Also, be sure to drink plenty of water before, during, and after a workout.

1) HOMOEOPATHIC TREATMENT OF VERTIGO

• Distribute food and fluid intake evenly throughout the day. This includes consuming approximately the same amount of food at each meal, not skipping meals, and eating snacks, if needed, at regular intervals.

• Evenly spacing food and fluid intake helps with inner-ear fluid stability;

• If your vertigo is because of Migraine, hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar) can trigger migraine attacks, hence having breakfast soon after rising can help stabilize your system for the day.

• Drink adequate amounts of fluid daily. Fluids can include water, milk, and low-sugar fresh fruit juices but not coffee, caffeinated tea, alcohol, or soft drinks. If possible, extra fluids should be drunk before and during exercise and in hot weather.

• It is important to make sure that you drink at least 7-8 or more glasses of water over the course of the day. Avoid having all fluid intake at one time.


What to Avoid in Vertigo:

Not all patients are affected equally. Sometimes what one cannot tolerate, another can. The top things that trigger Vertigo attacks are:

• Avoid consuming fluids that have high sugar or salt content in it such as concentrated drinks and soda.

• Caffeine intake.

• Excess salt intake.

• Nicotine intake/Smoking.

• Alcohol intake.

• Processed and Canned foods .

• Bread and pastries can even trigger vertigo .


Water:

Sometimes vertigo is caused by simple dehydration. Reducing your sodium intake may help. But the best way to stay hydrated is to simply drink plenty of water.

EXERCISE AND YOGA FOR THE TREATMENT OF VERTIGO

1. Head Movement

• Sit straight with your eyes focused on your thumb with your arm stretched out.

• Move the thumb side to side and follow it with head movement.

• Repeat this exercise by moving the thumb up and down and following it with head movement. Do 20 repetitions.

• Do this exercise for 5 minutes daily.


2. Exercise While Walking

• Make sure your path is clear of any dangerous corners or things while doing this exercise.

• Walking in a straight line

• Turn your head from side to side while walking.

• Do this exercise for 5 minutes a day.


3. Sitting and Standing

• Sit straight on a chair and slowly stand up.

• Do this for 20 times. You must do this exercise with eyes open initially. Once you feel your balancing is improving, you can do this exercise with your eyes closed.


4. Throwing & Catching Ball

• Sit straight and throw the ball from one hand to another above your eye level for 10 times daily.


5. Touch the Toes

• Sit on a mat or bed.

• Bend down to touch your toes, with a fixed gaze.

• Do this 5-10 times a day.
